Hi! I’m Cricket (they/them). I help elementary students build strong elementary English skills through personalized learning in one-on-one private tutoring sessions. I focus on making reading, writing, and grammar feel fun and approachable. In doing so, students not only improve in school but also enjoy learning. My sessions are tailored to each child’s needs, connecting with each student both personally and academically. If you’re looking for a tutor who brings patience, encouragement, and a calmness to sessions, I’d love to help.

Serving the areas of Forest and Lynchburg, Virginia. Tutoring sessions take place off Rivermont Ave, Lynchburg, VA, with online availability as well.
$50 for 50 minutes
$30 for 30 minutes

I am excited to help local elementary students strengthen their elementary English skills in a one-on-one setting. My teaching style is relaxed, calm, and patient. I view private tutoring as a conversation rather than a lecture, which allows me to connect with kids both academically and personally. I am looking forward to meeting your learner.
Over the past decade, I have enjoyed teaching a wide range of subjects, promoting personalized learning in both in-person and virtual settings for learners of all ages, from toddlers to seniors.
During my time with an in-person homeschool group, I taught a range of subjects from elementary English to middle school topics, including math, physics, entomology, and Earth science. Since 2020, I've been providing private tutoring for music lessons virtually, focusing on guitar and ukulele for children. I find that this personalized learning approach in a one-on-one format is highly effective, allowing me to tailor lessons to each student's pace and interests.
Additionally, I was an environmental educator with a local nonprofit organization for ten years, where I delivered programs to community members of all ages, including personalized learning experiences for elementary English students. I developed and led after-school programs, field trips, birthday parties, and community programs, teaching participants about animals, biology, ecology, and environmental awareness.
Since graduating college, I have had several essays and poems published in both paid and non-paid magazines. My writing often explores themes of nature and reflects my passion for education, including private tutoring opportunities that help students engage with the natural world.
